Beef sandwich

Ingredients:

  • 350 g ready beef
  • 4 thick slices sourdough bread
  • 700 g of potatoes
  • 4 tbsp (60 g) butter
  • 1 cup or less milk
  • 1/2 medium onion, sliced ​​into rings
  • 3 tbsp. flour
  • 2.5 tbsp. chicken broth low salt
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tablespoons mustard
  • 1 tbsp. prepared horseradish
  • 1/2 bunch watercress, tough stems removed
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley

Preparation:

  1. Pierce the potatoes and microwave on high power until tender, about 20 minutes. Using a fork, mash the potatoes in a bowl with 2 tablespoons (30 g) of butter. Add the milk and puree; season with salt and pepper.
  2. Meanwhile, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons (30 g) butter in a skillet over high heat. Add the onion and cook until soft, about 4 minutes. Stir in the flour and cook until lightly browned.

    Gradually whisk in the chicken broth until smooth. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and simmer until thickened, about 3 minutes.
  3. Preheat the oven.

    Toast the bread in the broiler for about 1 minute. Spread mustard and horseradish on the toasts; place each on a plate. Drizzle a little sauce over the toast; top with the beef and more sauce, watercress, and parsley. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Arrange the beef sandwiches on plates, top with mashed potatoes, and pour gravy over the entire dish.
