Ingredients:
Burgers
- 1.3 kg ground beef
- 1/4 cup beer
- 2 tbsp. grill seasonings
- 0.5 cups grated cheddar
- Romaine lettuce
- 4 hamburger buns, toasted
Red onion compote
- 0.5 cups of water
- 1 and 1/4 cups beer
- 0.5 cup brown sugar
- 2 red onions, thinly sliced
Preparation:
- Red onion compote.
In a medium saucepan, combine 0.5 cups of water, beer, brown sugar, and onion. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir. Bring the mixture to a boil and reduce the heat. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 1 hour or until the mixture thickens and reduces to 2 cups. Transfer the compote to a bowl and let cool completely.

- Light an outdoor grill for direct heat or heat a grill pan on the stovetop over medium-high heat. Brush the grill grate with vegetable oil, add the patties, and cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side until medium-rare. Place the cooked patties on lettuce leaves placed on buns and top with onion jam.
