Spaghetti with rice topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup crumbled spaghetti
- 1 cup basmati rice or long grain rice
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- 1/2 cup chopped dates
- A pinch of freshly ground allspice (clove) pepper
- Butter for frying
- 2 cups chicken broth
- Chopped parsley for sprinkling
Preparation:
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, fry the spaghetti in butter for 2 minutes. Add the onion and fry for 1 minute. Add the rice, season with salt and allspice, and fry, stirring, for 2 minutes.
Pour in the chicken broth, cover, and bring to a boil. Then cook the rice and spaghetti for 15 minutes. Once done, add the almonds and dates, sautéed in butter in a separate pan. Season with salt to taste and sprinkle with parsley.
