topcook.tomathouse.com

Ingredients:

  • 4 Granny Smith apples and 4 Golden Delicious apples (peeled, cored and cut into 1-1.5 cm thick slices.)
  • 1 cup of natural apple juice (straight from the press) or juice from reconstituted apples
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • A little nutmeg

Preparation:

  1. Place the apples in a large saucepan, add the apple juice, lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon sticks and a little nutmeg.

Bring the mixture to a boil, cover, and reduce heat. Cook for 15 minutes at a low simmer until the apples are softened. Remove the cinnamon sticks and discard.

Mash the apples with a potato masher and add 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg. Transfer the applesauce to a serving dish and serve warm.
