Cheese in bread “Mozzarella in Carozza”

Ingredients:

  • 6 slices of white bread without crust
  • 1 mozzarella ball, sliced ​​into about 0.5 cm thick slices and then cut into strips
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 heaped tablespoons of wheat flour
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil for frying

Preparation:

  1. Make sandwiches with the bread and cheese, leaving a small edge. Press the edges together with your fingers to create a seam. (One of the benefits of soft white bread is that it sticks together easily.)

    Pour milk into one soup bowl, add flour to another, and whisk eggs with salt and pepper in another. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Quickly dip the sandwiches one by one in milk, then roll them in flour, then dip them again in beaten egg.

    Fry in hot oil on each side until crispy and golden brown, then transfer to paper towels to absorb excess oil. Cut in half and serve.
