Iron Chef's Hot Cheese Sandwich topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons fig jam
- 8 thick slices brioche
- 4 tablespoons toasted sliced almonds
- 8 slices of fried bacon
- 4 slices Gruyere
- 4 slices Monterey Jack cheese
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter at room temperature
Preparation:
- Heat a nonstick skillet or large frying pan over medium heat. Spread fig jam on four slices of bread. Top with almonds, then add two slices of bacon per sandwich and a slice of each cheese. Brush the outside of the sandwiches with butter, then season with salt.
- Grill the sandwiches on one side for 5 minutes, then flip, cover with a heatproof metal bowl, and grill until golden brown, cheese is melted, and heated through, about 5 more minutes.
